Jared Huggins lost his jobs and home in February, 2010 but was helped out by the poker community. Due to his personality and touching videos they soon came to like him and even a proposal was made to get him into PokerStars’ The Big Game show as Loose Cannon. Recently, however, this has been turned down.
Jared ‘RelaxedPrecision’ Huggins was slapped hard by life in February, 2010. Despite having three jobs at a time, he couldn’t pay his rent and so he lost his home, followed by his jobs and his bankroll. By posting videos at the 2+2 forum (see one below), however, he grew increasingly popular with the poker community, which tried to help him. Today, he once again has a job and home.
During last Autumn, John ‘JimmyLegs’ Wray proposed that Huggins become Loose Cannon on the next Big Game show. Thousands subscribed the initiative, including pros like Daniel Negreanu and Justin ‘BoostedJ’ Smith. After uploading his audition video, his featuring in the next season of the show was taken for granted… until now.
“I got an email from PokerStars yesterday informing me that I was not selected to compete as a Loose Cannon on next season’s PokerStars Big Game. I wasn’t given any specific reason why I wasn’t selected, but I was thanked for trying out. TwoPlusTwo.com, thank all of you for supporting me and showing me love. To be loved was a dream come true for me. I’m convinced that love cures most illness,” Huggins wrote at 2+2, as cited by JimmyLegs.
Of course, the community is stunned; Daniel Negreanu, for example, wrote the following: “Just saw this and am absolutely shocked. I have no idea why he wasn’t chosen. I know that FOX investigates contestants backgrounds, looking for any criminal past, etc. but I’ve got no clue why they wouldn’t pick him. Sorry to all those that supported Jared, I was one of them.”
I can’t think of any reason why he was turned down, either. How does a popular player who’d attract even more audience hurt PokerStars’ interests…?
