In much of 2010, Viktor ’Isildur1’ Blom performed poorly to say the least at the online tables, unable to repeat his breakthrough results of 2009. I wouldn’t go as far as to state 2011 might be his comeback year, but he has been doing very convincingly in the past couple of days. He currently has over $600,000 in profit, won from the likes of Phil Galfond, Ashton Griffin and Mike Gordon.
As you probably know, Blom won the third SuperStar Showdown against Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates, last year’s biggest online high stakes winner. The 2500 hands heads-up game left Isildur1 with a profit of $51,196. Ever since, he is unstoppable: in just a matter of days, he earned over $600,000.
He played against Mike ‘gordo16’ Gordon and Sphinx87 on Monday, winning $228,000 from the two in total. Against CardRunners instructor gordo16, he played 2,134 hands of $25/$50 PLO and won $159,000, despite losing a massive pot of $31,547 during the match.
Tuesday he clashed with Phil ‘MrSweets28’ Galfond, with similar results: in their session of $25/$50 PLO, Isildur1 made $150,000, summarised by Galfond on his Twitter as “Ouch.” After taking a short coffee break, Blom returned to send Kanu7 and Ashton ‘theASHMAN103’ Griffin packing, too. He took down both HU matches, played in $25/$50-$50/$100 NLHE and $25/$50 PLO, respectively.
In all, Isildur1 has played 12,860 hands high stakes since Sunday, building a $618,815 profit. We shall see if he finally manages to end his downswing or does his usual thing and loses his entire bankroll in a single session…
