Day 3 of the WSOP Event #16 $1,500 No Limit Hold’em – Six-Handed started with Robert Muzzatti in the chiplead and Mike Matusow in 3rd place, going for a 4th golden bracelet. A total of 1,604 players entered Day 1 and amassed a prize pool of $2,165,400.

The Final Table

Already on blind Level 22 (2,000/8,000/16,000), the 6-handed final table was set, with the elimination of Jonathan Currle, Mike Matusow and Matt Glantz. Matusow was railed, following the loss of a pot of half a million in chips, when he shoved preflop:

Robert Muzzatti: {#}K {#}K
Mike Matusow: {#}A {#}T

Board: {#}3 {#}9 {#}K {#}A {#}Q

Despite the turned ace, Matusow’s hand was not able to improve over Muzzatti’s flopped three of kings, sending the three times champion packing. Glantz’ elimination then gave the chiplead to former shortstack Ramey Shaio.

The final table started on Level 23 (3,000/10,000/20,000) but not much action was going on until late in the next one. Mark Darner and Muzzatti quickly got railed then, the latter running into Matros’ pocket queens with {#}A {#}K on a neutral board.

The heads-up was finally set on Level 26 (5,000/20,000/40,000), with the elimination of Gordon Vayo and Shaio. Two former WSOP champions, Matros and Mark Radoja remained to play for the bracelet.

Matt Matros: 3,600,000
Mark Radoja: 3,500,000

In about two hours of play, the lead kept going back and forth between the players, until Matros managed to get a major edge and bet for Radoja’s all-in on the {#}T {#}9 {#}2 {#}8 board on Level 27 (5,000/25,000/50,000).

Matt Matros: {#}6 {#}5
Mark Radoja: {#}J {#}7

River: {#}T

Radoja’s straight did not hold up, Matros rivered his flush and won the event for his 3rd WSOP bracelet.
