Since the GPI Leaderboard determines some of the winners, we already know that Ole Schemion will receive the Player of the Year title and we also know that the Best European Female Player will be Liv Boeree, but there are still plenty of interesting categories including the Tournament of the Year and the Breakout Player of the Year.
The event will be held at the Portomaso Marina Hilton Hotel on March 25 and it is organized by the head of the GPI, Alex Dreyfus, who recently organized the first American Poker Awards.
Dreyfus hopes that the change in location (the EPA has always been held in France so far) and the date (during EPT Malta) will result in bug publicity and that even more players than usual will attend.
Some of the awards are already determined by the GPI Leaderboard, so we know that Ole Schemion will once again win the Player of the Year title, but we also know that Liv Boeree will receive the Best Female Player title.
The other 9 categories each have 4 nominees, while the Best Poker Ambassador and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced by the organizers.
