In a new forum post, Daniel Cates announced that the durrrr challenge 2 is set to to continue and will be finished in 9 months. We’ll see…
Daniel ”jungleman12” Cates made the following statement last week on the 2+2 forums regarding the Durrrr vs. Jungleman challenge.
”Tom and I have had some disputes but I believe we have essentially resolved them . The challenge is agreed to be played out in the next 9 months (God-willing). I think tom intends on finishing the challenge but has been distracted by things of great importance… In addition Black Friday greatly hindered our progress.”
When asked what the things of great importance were, Jungleman replied the following
”Such as a large dilemma with pokerstars/full tilt, and the Feds arresting Paul and richard.”
With that jungleman referred to the arrest of Paul Phua and Richard Yong, two of the most famous players of the ultra-high stakes Macau games and who are rumored to be staking Dwan.
Cates and Tom ”durrrr” Dwan started the durrrr challenge 2 in August 2010. They played 19,335 hands and jungleman won $1,251,059 from Dwan. Dwan just couldn’t figure out the NLHE heads-up specialist and soon stopped playing, focusing his efforts on the huge Macau cash games.
The closure of Full Tilt and the happenings of Black Friday suspended the battles for years, even though Cates told in several interviews that he is ready to continue in another room or in a live setting aswelll.
After Full Tilt’s return the challenge still didn’t continue, they only played a mini session and Cates was very vocal about Dwan being impossible to deal with.
The durrrr challenge was the biggest heads-up battle ever made, Dwan gave 3:1 to all opponents to play $50,000 hands in $200/$400 PLO or NLHE games.
Cates took the challenge and if he wins, he will pocket $1,500,000 as an addition to his profits from playing.
