Mandavia received a $10,000 bonus for his end of the day position, while many of the ”Shooting Stars” busted out, including Jason Mercier, Dan Shak, Anthony Zinno, Erik Seidel, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow and Byron Kaverman.
The WPT L.A. Poker Classic finished just a few days ago, but the World Poker Tour is not slowing down. The Bay 101 Shooting Star runs between March 7 – 11 and will be followed by the WPT Rolling Thunder (March 12 – 16) and the WPT National Vienna (March 15 – 20).
The $7,500 buy-in WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star kicked off with 331 entrants on Day 1A with 121 advancing to Day 2. Ankush ”pistons87” Mandavia built the biggest stack on Day 1A of the event, he gathered 263,700 chips and received a $10,000 bonus fo finishing on the top of the chipcounts.
The second one on the leaderboard is Rep Porter (249,600), but Brian Yoon (222,500), Connor ”blanconegro” Drinan and Chance Kornuth (194,500) also built big stacks.
Players who eliminated a ”Shooting Star” received a $2,500 bonus and a signed Shooting Star T-shirt.

By the end of the day Jason Mercier, Dan Shak, JC Tran, Anthony Zinno, Cate Hall, Erik Seidel, Jake Bazeley, Darren Elias, Phil Hellmuth, Kelly Minkin, Byron Kaverman, Matt Salsberg, Mike Sexton, Mike Matusow and Aaron Mermelstein were all eliminated, they can re-enter on Day 1B.

Day 1B of the tournament will run on Tuesday and the organizers expect an even bigger field and plenty of big name pros.
