The $1,500 NLHE Monster Stack is one of the most popular tournaments of the series’ thanks to the combination of the relatively low buy-in and a seven-figure first prize. A total of 6,260 players entered the event, creating a prize pool of $8,451,000, with $1 Million+ for the winner.
2,085 players advanced to Day 2 but only 939 of them reached the money for the $2,251 min-cash. Once the bubble burst, the eliminations got faster, with several well-known players falling. French pros, Gaelle Baumann (804th) and Sylvain Loosli (641st), Natural8 sponsored pro, Kitty Kuo (595th) or 2013 WSOP Main Event winner, Ryan Riess (520th) were amongst the casualties.
Steve Billirakis is the current chip leader with 1,399,000. Billirakis is the youngest bracelet winner in the history of the WSOP. Back in 2007, he won his first gold at just 21 years and 10 days of age. Since then, he accumulated $2,137,234 in total WSOP earnings and scooped another WSOP title.
Steve is followed by James Stewart (1,220,000), Raul Manzanares Lozano (1,176,000) and David Neiman (1,160,000). The 257 remaining players will return on Tuesday at 11 a.m local time to continue the play at Level 21 with blinds of 5,000/10,000/1,000.
