Four timer PokerStars Supernova Elite Dusty ‘Leatherass’ Schmidt has recently been made PS Online Pro member, an honour even for him, as he admits. PokerNews.com asked him how to become an SNE.
Schmidt first tried to earn the VPPs necessary to make Supernova Elite in 2007, a time competition wasn’t as tough as today, he says. Although he admits he was “only skilled enough to 8-table” back then, it seems it was just enough and now it is even easier for him as he is able to play at 15-20 tables at the same time. He doesn’t even have to do it full time. Nice.
All the same, his skills seem to have little to do with his successes compared to his secret weapon, a bottle to pee in: “Sitting out on tables to pee would cost me about 200 hands each time when you consider that I have to wait to sit out on 15 tables, wait to get back on and the time it takes me to pee, times the 3-4 times a day I pee, and that is just absurd to me to miss out on thousands of hands a week and over one hundred thousand hands on the year all for the "privilege" of my urine not being intercepted by a plastic bottle before it goes into the toilet.”
Well, it does seem to be worth it. Being an SNE got Schmidt privileges few others can have, including for example a VIP party with Snoop Dogg earlier this year. Nevertheless, he doesn’t credit his acceptance into the Team Pokerstars Online to this but to his other achievement of writing a successful book entitled ‘Treat Your Poker Like A Business.’
