The "Summer Series" stage of the Global Poker League kicked off on June 6 with an exciting heads-up battle in the Cube, a futuristic structure developed by the GPL. The Summer Series will run until July 8 and will consists purely of live heads-up battles.

The Cube is soundproof and built with one-way glass so the players can’t see out. Players in the Cube compete standing up while their hole cards are being live streamed for the studio audience and online viewers.

The first battle took place on Monday, with Los Angeles Sunset wildcard Aaron Paul facing off against accomplished French pro Fabrice Soulier.

Paul and Soulier played three matches and Paul managed to take down two, earning 6 points for his team. The Summer Series will continue on Tuesday with San Francisco Rush player Phil Galfond and Moscow Wolverines member Dzimtry Urbanovich battling it out from 20:00 (CET).
