Daniel Cates is one of the most feared cash game players in the world, he won the most money in heads-up games in the past 5 years, but he is also known to have difficulties in other walks of life. This time, he managed to end up 1500 miles from his planned destination thanks to similar city names.

Cates, a US resident, wanted to play some online poker, so he decided to take a trip to Cabó, Mexico, a place that is filled with poker players who moved there after Black Friday. Unfortunately for him, the airport was called San José (de Cabó), but there is also a San José in California, a mere 1500 miles from Cabó, and as they say, the rest is history. Daniel texted his friend, Justin "BoostedJ" Smith about his mistake, who thought that the story is absolutely hilarious and posted the text on virtually every social media outlet he could find, and now the whole poker community is laughing with/at Cates.

Things didn’t go well for Dan when he finally got to Mexico either, during his first few sessions he lost around $150,000, and gave up his spot on the yearly profit leaderboard for the first time this year, to French player Alex "Alexonmoon" Luneau, who had a great July and has good results in August also.
