Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates won around $200,000 from Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan in 1,485 hands. Meanwhile, Doug ‘WCGRider’ Polk leads has built $600,000 in profits in their sessions with Ben ‘Sauce’ Sulsky with just 1,427 hands left to go.

In July, Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates announced that they had agreed with Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan to resume the Durrrr Challenge 2.

“Regarding the durrrr challenge, we agreed to play a min of 4k hands/month, and then 8k hands every 2 months afterwards. If we dont play 4k hands a month in august, then restrictions will be made. I guess restrictions means scheduled times, penalties for not complying…” he posted back then.

Despite the big promises, no actual session was played after that, Dwan still preferring the cash games in Macau. He soon became the subject of attacks from the poker community, considering it extremely inappropriate that the signed pro of a leading poker room disregards his arrangements and duties. In September, ‘jungleman12’ again posted that the two had apparently discussed the details and the challenge continues soon. Most remained skeptic, however, especially because Cates himself added he had said that many times before.

On 1 October, the two players did eventually hit the online tables and played 1,485 hands on the $200/$400 stakes. ‘Jungleman12’ started with $1,250,817 in profits after 19,718 hands and he managed to increase his lead even more. In just 40 minutes, he won $100,000, dominating the game and giving the impression to spectators as if the two of them were not even playing in the same league.

Later, ‘durrrr’ managed to come back and not only did he eliminate Cates’ profits but won $130,000 himself. He kept it this way for another three hours, even winning more to a total of $150,000 but that was the top for him. It was in this period of the session that the biggest pot hit.

‘Durrrr’ raised to $1,040 from position, ‘jungleman12’ 3-bet to $3,600 and ‘durrrr’ called. The flop came 4:c 4:h 6:h, ‘jungleman12’ bet $3,200 and ‘durrrr’ raised to $9,800. ‘Jungleman12’ 3-bet to $17,200, ‘durrrr’ 4-bet to $34,400, ‘jungleman12’ shoved for $56,137 and ‘durrrr’ called all-in with $43,714.

Durrrr vs Jungleman12 Session - Biggest Pot

Three and a half hours into the game, Cates’ upswing arrived, taking major pots one after the other and ended up $197,000 ahead by the end of the session. In total, he has now around $1.5 million in profits.

Meanwhile, the challenge played by Doug ‘WCGRider’ Polk and Ben ‘Sauce’ Sulsky is nearing its finish. The two players have bagged and tagged their 6th session and only 1,427 hands are left to go. ‘WCGRider’ can all but rest assured he has achieved a clear victory; a not so small miracle has to happen if he is to lose his $600,000 edge.
