Tom Dwan has been absent from the live poker scene in the past few years. But last month, after three years, he finished in the money at a major tournament.
The event was a $64,400 buy-in high roller in Macau during the 2017 Macau Billionaire Poker Challange which set off with only 12 entries, one of which was "durrr".
He had to face Belarussian high stakes pro Mikita Badziakouski heads-up for the first prize – "fish2013"came out on top, after in the final hand Dwan’s K3 off-suit was dominated by his opponent’s AK.
Badziakuski ended up taking home $420,000, and Dwan, first time since the 2014 Aussie Millions, added some money to his live tournament earnings, $250,000 to be exact – he’s currently at an impressive $2.9 million.
Dwan went under heavy criticism from the online poker community, notably Doug Polk, for not finishing the heads-up challange he started with Dan "Jungleman" Cates back in 2010, and recently Polk speculated he may have scammed another player too. After all these controversies it’s a nice break to hear from him because of his tournament results, not something else.
