The opening of Season XI of the European Poker Tour is marked by the 100th event in the history of the series. To celebrate the jubilee, the largest ever poker festival will be organised in Barcelona.
Organisers of the most important poker series of the old continent, the European Poker Tour have announced the largest poker festival ever, to be taken place this August. While no details have surfaced yet, the occasion is the 100th event in the history of the series, which will be the first stop in Season XI in Barcelona, after the ongoing season is wrapped up in May.
“The EPT was born in Barcelona so it’s very fitting to celebrate EPT’s 100th event in true style and with unforgettable poker. EPT Barcelona is one of the most popular tour stops and attracts players from all over the world for the fantastic mix of beaches, iconic architecture, party atmosphere and world class poker,” EPT President Edgar Stuchly commented.
The very first EPT was held back in 2004; ever since, over 180,000 players have played in the series at stops in 16 different countries. The opening of Season XI is planned for 16-27 August 2014 at the Casino Barcelona. The aim is to have the largest player pool of the series ever and to hand out the biggest prizes as well. To this end, 20 more tables will be added to last year’s count.
As usual, EPT will cooperate with PokerStars’ popular local series in Spain, the Estrellas Poker Tour, to be able to offer and even more colourful programme in Barcelona. Players can expect a hoard of surprises on the occasion of the jubilee, to be announced later by the event organisers.
