Explore Unibet Open’s Giant Poker Festival in Bucharest

The Unibet Open is one of Unibet’s iconic poker festivals, it’s building up to its previous glory. After a five-year hiatus, the newest Unibet Open will be back in Bucharest at the end of this year. The last event was in 2018 and then the pandemic hit the next year and it was put on hold for a long while.

The Festival Details

The Unibet Open will run from the 30th of November to the 4th of December at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel in Bucharest. The organisers aim to break their previous record of 603 participants with this event.

The festival’s Head of Events, Nataly Sopacuaperu, stated that they’re excited to be back in Bucharest after their five-year hiatus. As Bucharest is an amazing city to see, party in, and play poker in, the event carries a special atmosphere and promises to deliver a great reunion.

Qualifiers

Online qualifiers are aplenty as the operator tries to attract more participants. Some qualifiers are already underway at Unibet, and you can start with as little as one cent using feeder satellites. These satellites will run until the 19th of November, each Sunday.

Weekly qualifiers also grant five packages worth €2,000, which include four-night accommodation for the participant and a guest, a seat at the Main Event, and €250 in travel expenses. The buy-in for these qualifiers is €250.

Main Events

The flagship Main Event is a €1,100 tournament with multiple Day One’s. While the organisers haven’t released the schedule for this four-day tournament yet, we know there’ll be a €2,200 High Roller Event, a Ladies’ Event, a Mystery Bounty tournament, and more. Overall, we expect at least €200,000 in guarantees across the tournament.

The History

The Unibet Open Bucharest festival started in 2016 and the largest prize pool so far was in 2018, boasting a €592,000 guaranteed pool. While the festival has an international flair with many players from all around the world the first two Main Events were won by local Romanians while the last one was by a player from Russia.

 The City

Bucharest is the capital of Romania, and there are many incredible places to visit. Tour Dracula Castle to see where this popular pop culture reference started. Take a guided tour through the impressive Salt Mines or explore the Stravropoleos Monastery.

Even simply walking around the city will let you see the exceptional architecture and culture of Bucharest. You can explore Lipscani, the perfect combination of traditional architecture and the modern urban centre. For art lovers, there’s the National Museum of Art of Romania, a palace originally built for the Romanian Royals.
