As of 16 June, iPoker discontinues a range of cash game tables and gametypes unpopular with users to increase the liquidity of the more frequented games.
The iPoker network, home to skins like Everest Poker, Betfair and Winner Poker, has announced the implementation of a range of substantial changes to its cash game offering to increase its liquidity, effective today, 16 June. Most importantly, high stakes and anonymous tables will be completely discontinued: NL1,000 remains the highest limit available. Additionally, shallow and deep ante tables are also withdrawn from the heads-up and full ring offerings.
According to the press release, less empty tables will be open in the lobby, making active ring game tables fill up more quickly.
“We expect players to move up/down/sideways from niche games to main games. This result in a bigger number of active tables and more enjoyable poker experience,” an iPoker representative told Pokerfuse.com.
The changes are also being introduced to premium tier iPoker 2, where games played in GBP are also eliminated from the portfolio, except for normal 6-max tables, where a buy-in range of 40-100BB will be allowed.
Moreover, iPoker discontinues or decreases available tables in a range of less popular game types: Speed Omaha games are completely withdrawn, and so are PLO and Omaha Hi/Lo full ring, deep ante, shallow and GBP tables.
Limit Hold’em, Limit Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud games are continued to be offered unaltered.
The iPoker network currently occupies the 3rd position on the .com market cash game traffic list, yet the number of cash game players active in the network is continuously decreasing. According to PokerScout, their 7-day average is 1.800 players, as opposed to around 2.300 this time last year, marking a 22% drop.
