The American grinder takes down the Super High Roller Bowl for $5,000,000, Negreanu finishes 2nd.
In the past 5 months, Bonomo accumulated almost $14 million in live tournament winnings.
"I finally feel like I’m on top."
Six players returned to the final table of the SHRB, with Mikita Badziakouski leading the field by only a slight margin over Bonomo and Negreanu. Nick Patrangelo busted in the first hand when his pocket tens ran into the queens of Jason Koon. At this point, all players were guaranteed at least a $1.2 million payday.
Defending champ, Chris Vogelsang was the shortest stack and he busted shortly after Nick. Belarussian crusher, Mikita lost a big chunk of his stack in a hand against Negreanu, when he was trying to bluff with Ace high, only to get called by the straight of Negreanu’s. Justin finished off Badziakouski in a blind versus blind confrontation, when both players flopped top pair, with Justin holding the superior kicker.
The big winner of the Triton Super High Roller Series, Jason Koon, busted in third place, for $2.1 million. He flopped two pairs in a three-bet pot against Bonomo, who had a better two pair. The money went in on the turn and Jason had to settle for 3rd after failing to hit any of his two outs.
At the start of the heads-up, Justin had a 4-1 lead over Daniel, but "Kid Poker" was able to close the gap thanks to some decent pots going his way. In the final hand, however, he got it in bad with a pair and a straight draw against a top set. Even though busting never feels good, Daniel didn’t complain at all: "Yeah, and I got $3 million, too," he said with a laugh. "Took a shot. Five or a ten and we’re in business. But, we got a deserving champ."
Justin also praised his opponent after his victory: "Kudos to him for staying at the top."
With this win, Justin has now over $31 million in total earnings, while Daniel has almost $40 million.
