Jamie Gold’s world championship golden bracelet was sold for $65,725. It was not the US producer and poker player, who auctioned the relic.
American movie producer Jamie Gold bested 8,773 players to win the World Series of Poker 2006 Main Event, scooping in the highest first prize ever, $12 million.
For most poker players, there are few most valuable objects than a WSOP bracelet, therefore it normally draws a lot of attention if someone, who has won it, sells the relic. Gold’s bracelet was announced for auction by the Heritage Auctions house on 13 July, 2013 and it has recently been sold for $65,725.
"Not much I can say other than that the current owner, who wants to remain anonymous, brought it to us for consignment. It is not Mr. Gold auctioning it, but he obviously sold it to someone, for some reason, at an earlier point, but I do not known any details beyond that," Heritage Auctions PR Director Noah Fleisher said.
According to the house, Gold’s bracelet was made of white and yellow gold with 259 stones to decorate it, including 7-carat diamonds.
Gold is not the first world champion to part ways with his bracelet. Peter Eastgate offered his own to auction in 2008 and William Haughey bought it for $147,500. Even though Eastgate gave all the money to charity, many considered his move as a blow to the prestige of the WSOP Main Event.
