It seems the players who missed out WSOPE for some reason are attending WPT Borgata Poker Open, which boasts of the largest player pool ever in WPT history, a total of 1,042 players. FYI, last year’s record was 1,018 players attending.
Of course the high number of participants might be due to the relatively small buy-in (only $3,300+$200) but anyways, it’s a massive turnout. Doing the maths, it seems the prize pool will be around $3,4 million, so the winner will likely earn around $930,000, which is not bad at all for a $3,300+$200 buy-in tournament. WPT is at its 3rd day, with 175 players remaining and the leaderboard looks as follows:
1. John D’Agostino – 681,200
2. Giuseppe Pantaleo – 668,100
3. Francis Lamothe – 640,000
4. Lars Bonding – 521,900
5. Marc Goldman – 506,600
6. Jens Eisner – 477,900
7. Stan Sinclair – 449,300
8. Jeff Papola – 447,000
9. Kyle Loman – 406,100
10. Dwyte Pilgrim – 400,000
Kimberly Lansing, WPT’s official reporter is also very active, she does interviews with many poker celebrities, in this one, she talks to Mike Sexton, last year’s WSOP Main Event winner, and in the second one she interviews James Woods, actor, poker player. Check them out!
Day 3 of WPT will begin in 6 hours at the time of the writing of this post, I will be back with some more info about the event when there is some interesting development.
