Renowned poker tournament director Matt Savage suffered a serious accident on a waterslide. He underwent cervical stenosis surgery urgently to avoid paralysis and he left the hospital late last week.
The poker community crossed fingers for one of the most recognized poker personality and tournament director in the industry, Matt Savage late last week. He spent several days in hospital, undergoing surgery to save him from paralysis. Savage suffered a hit to his neck on a waterslide and the MRI examination revealed major injuries to his nerves. Were it not for the quick surgery, Savage would have been paralyzed for life.
When the WPT tournament director left the hospital, he shared the happy moment with his followers as well:
“Just out of hospital, thanks you guys have been awesome with the well wishes, next stop home,” he tweeted.
“I had a flight scheduled for 7 a.m. (direct) to Florida, for what could be my biggest tournament ever. The Seminole Hard Rock $10,000,000 Guarantee (22-28) and I will for sure miss the 1st day and have to convince Maryann and William Mason that I can still go,” he added.
Savage is not only the tournament director of the WPT festivals but also he is a founding member of the Tournament Directors Association (TDA) and works as a director at the Commerce as well.
