Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen is one of the most accomplished online tournament players, and in a recent interview with PokerListings, he talked about his daily routine, online security, and about Scandinavian players. You can read the excerpt from the interview below.

At the beginning of the interview, Petersen talks about online poker security and about the high-stakes cash game community that was the victim of a huge Danish cheating scandal that we have written about a few days earlier.

He says that the victims were mostly cash game players, and that plenty of players were victimized even though they took the necessary steps to protect their computers in the past few years, because the scam started so long ago.

He states that it’s very important to protect yourself as much as possible, he uses a computer that is solely for the purpose of playing poker, and he doesn’t even open e-mails with it.

Next he talks about your his routine, he usually plays four days a week, usually 10-12 hour sessions. He plays tournaments all the way from $8 up to $1,000 buy-ins, and believes that winning a smaller tournament can bring a lot of confidence when you have a tough stretch at the higher stakes tables.

He focuses a lot more on the higher stakes tournament, in the $8 and $22 tournaments he tries to have fun and be more relaxed.

When asked about the Scandinavian domination of the early 2000s, he answers that Scandinavian players are still on the highest level, and that Swedish players are better then ever. He states that the Scandinavian playing style is not unique anymore nowadays, and that it’s pretty much impossible to come up with a completely new playing style like Gus Hansen did in the 2000s.

At the end of the interview he talks about the fact that it’s not possible to tell who the best MTT players are because there are so many rankings, and that this gives a bit of mystery in the game, which he likes a lot.
