57 players started Day 4 of the PCA Main Event, including Brazilian football legend Ronaldo who was in 18th place of the chipcount. By the end of the day there were 24 players left and the remaining field is very tough with Pratyush Buddiga, Shyam Srinivasan, Dylan Linde and Noah Schwartz still in contest for the $1,491,580 first prize.
Day 4 started with Juan Etcheverry in the lead, the Argentian lead the pack with a 1.7 million stack, he was followed by Chance Kornuth and Kevin Schulz.
The field played down to the last 24, the chipleader is Brazilian Eugenio Mattar with 2.67 million chips, and he is followed by a very tough field consisting of Kornuth, Pratyush Buddiga, Shyam "g’s zee" Srinivasan, Dylan "ImaLucSac" Linde and Noah Schwartz.
Several big names busted including Naoya Kihara (50th) Ole Schemion (45th) JC Alvarado (44th), Jonathan Duhamel (42nd), Jason Mercier (41st), Olivier Busquet (39th), Shannon Shorr (35th), Stefan Jedlicka (27th) and the Brazilian football legend, Ronaldo, who finished in 26th place.
Ronaldo lost his chips against fellow Brazilian Eugenio Matter. On Level 23 (10,000/20,000/2,000 ante) Ronaldo raised to 80,000 from early position, Mattar re-raised to 200,000 from middle position, and Ronaldo shoved for 536,000 when the action was back on him and Matter called.
Showdown:
Ronaldo: K-T suited
Mattar: Q-Q
The board ran out 5-J-9-8-J and Mattar’s hand held up sending Ronaldo to the rail. The Brazilian legend generated a lot of media interest in the past few days and gladly handed out some signatures before leaving the tournament area.
