PokerStars Carribean Adventure has returned on Saturday, with the $100,000 Super High Roller and the $10,300 Main Event amongst the total of 31 events.

As PokerStars realized that most players prefer the separated live tournament festivals (e.g. EPT, APPT, PCA) they retired their shortly lived PokerStars Championship. Therefore, the PCA came back this year as well much to the delight of the poker community. The festival is running from 6th January to 14th.

Erik Seidel didn’t make the money this time

The biggest buy-in event already kicked off on the starting day. In the $100k Super High Roller, the field has already reached the final table, lead by Ivan Luca, who is followed closely (with a 1 big blind difference) by Justin Bonomo. Household names like Daniel Negreanu also made the final table – certainly a good start to achieving the goals he set for 2018. Bryn Kenney continues this year where he finished the last year. He was the biggest winner in 2017, and his appearance at another big final table make us believe he hasn’t had enough. The remaining players are all guaranteed to take home at least $248,720 but the $1,492,340 first prize surely motivates everyone to bring their A-game to the table. See the official chip counts of the final table below:

Position
Player
Chip count
1 Ivan Luca 2,760,000
2 Justin Bonomo 2,695,000
3 Daniel Negreanu 2,415,000
4 Bryn Kenney 1,485,000
5 Isaac Haxton 1,095,000
6 Cary Katz 855,000
7 Sam Greenwood 695,000

The Main Event starts on the 8th. Last year the event generated 738 entries (even though the buy-in was significantly less $5,000) so it’s safe to say we can expect a large tournament with huge prizes. Other than the Main Event, the festival is packed with big tournaments as one $50k and two $25k‘s are still on the list. Make sure to check back with Pokergurublog later for the updates!
