Earlier this month, Phil Laak set a new world record of non-stop poker by playing 115 hours straight.
A few weeks later, an enthusiastic group from Austria decided to break this record.
The group consisted of seven players, led by the German actor, director and screenwriter Max Kruckl. Their aim was to play poker for 150 hours straight.
Having started on Saturday, 19.06.2010, the event was available on the group’s website for everyone to follow and has ended on Thursday, 24.06.2010.
The group’s goal was to “challenge and to cross the limits of what is humanly possible, not for money but for honor” and to “bring the world record from Las Vegas to Tirol”.
Having reached the 135-hour marker on Thursday, the group only had three players left and decided to end the record attempt.
The Austrians had a hard time breaking Phil’s record, and according to their press release, “they find themselves in stable psychological and physical health,” despite “emotional heights and depths including fits of laughter, depression, all the way to hallucinations.”
Although this has not been an official record attempt, these guys might have started something. The question is: can any human outdo this?
