Carbon Poker has once again organized their online tournament series, creatively titled Online Poker Series, but on the last day of the series, players were plagued with disconnect problems, and several players who reconnected were reconnected to other players accounts.
The Carbon Poker Online Poke Series (OPS) started on November 9 and lasted until this Sunday. From the 76 events in the schedule, six were held on the final day of the series, and five of these were Main Events with various buy-ins. The biggest tournaments in the schedule were a $215 buy-in, $250,000 guaranteed NLHE Main Event and a $530 buy-in, $75,000 guaranteed NLHE Main Event.
The events attracted plenty of players but in the end all there was left was a huge scandal, several players reported being kicked off the software, and when they logged back, they were logged into other players accounts.
Players started posting on the 2+2 forums regarding the issue, first it was only about the disconnect problems, but then more and more reports about the account issues popped up.
catfan17: i just got back on and it had me on another account. like i could see the dude’s balance and everything
DREW0: Got on and won 2 hands on somebody else’s account
clydetheglide: something weird just really happened to me. I was grinding, started to have connection problems, closed the client, re-opened, etc, then without asking me for my password it signed me in automatically, except it WASN’T my account. I was signed in as someone called "terminallychill3". I got on an empty micro table to make sure it wasn’t just the name displayed at the top, and sure enough, it was someone else’s account, i bought into the table and everything. I obviously didn’t play any hands, just felt like I should report it here in case someone else had their account logged into (or if somehow MY account got logged into).
a33bars: wow same **** for me was logged in under someones account named chatetone.
catfan17: Here’s a screenshot of me logged in as "terminallychill3". That is not my account. I edited out my skype name (bc its my real name) and his acct balance from the picture.
So far neither Merge nor Carbon Poker have commented on the issue, although they have admitted server failures. It is currently unknown if they will compensate the players, and if so, how. In the $530 Main Event the issue came up when there were only 8 players left, 4 players were disconnected. When one of them managed to log back in, there were 3 other players left, two active and one disconnected, so the results of the tournament have been heavily influenced by the failure, the top prize of the event was $19,000.
