Matt Damon, a constant participant of the WSOP, was interviewed by RawVegas.tv on a possible sequel to the 1998 hit poker movie Rounders.

The original movie involved everything to popularise the game: great actors, casinos, Johnny Chan, Eric Seidel and a memorable plot on Mike Dermott (Damon), who finances his studies by his winnings on poker, losing everything to Teddy KGB (Malkovich) but being convinced by his old friend Worm (Norton), fresh out of jail, to return to the tables.

Damon tells us that he believes everybody from the original staff would be in for ‘Rounders 2’; all they need is a good script from writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien, whom Damon mocked upon writing the script for ‘Ocean’s 13’ with “writing the wrong sequel”.

While ‘Rounders 2’ is in the preproduction stage at best, we shall look for the next movie (at least partially) on poker, ‘Guns, Girls and Gambling’. Even though not concentrating on the game, it is supposed to play a major role in the plot, which is about a lost American Indian artifact and the search after it with the most unlikely characters possible. The movie stars Gary Oldman, Christian Slater and Dane Cook, it is written and directed by Michael Winnick and due in 2011. See more in The Cake Blog.
