As I posted, Jonathan Duhamel won the 2010 WSOP Main Event, earning just around $9 million after defeating John Racener HU. Immediately, the social media was crammed with congratulations and various reactions from poker pros and the community; here is but a few of these.

Jonathan Duhamel

His fellow countryman Daniel Negreanu, although probably a bit disappointed, remarked on his Twitter that Duhamel was both the sixth PokerStars pro and the first Canadian to win the WSOP: “Just woke up and saw that PokerStars has now produced 6 of the last 8 WSOP champs and Canada its 1st. Congrats kid!"

Michael Mizrachi, one of the favourites to win the final table until as late as his elimination in fifth place, also expressed his respect for the 23-year-old Canadian’s achievement: “Waking up!! Congrats to John Duhamel!!! Well done!! Great game Racener!! It’s all over… Now it’s time to grind!!”

In addition, his heads-up opponent John Racener also acknowledged Duhamel’s feat: “Congratulations to Johnathan Duhamel. Still very happy with 2nd place. Would have loved to win it tho. I’ll be back to get it next year.” Considering that Racener made it to the HU from being short stack at the then 7-handed table, it shouldn’t be surprising if he did actually have at least one more shot at the title.

I, too, wish to congratulate Duhamel and each participant of this amazing WSOP Main Event finale!
