Before Day 2 of the EPT Barcelona Main Event, PokerStars has announced that they are ending all of their current live tournament series to instead create two global series, the PokerStars Championship and the PokerStars Festival.

The PokerStars Championship will be similar to the EPT but will also host events on other continents, moving away the focus from Europe.

The new Championship will kick off in January 2017 with the PokerStars Championship Bahamas stop, which used to be the PCA. This will be followed by events in Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Macau and Panama and all Main Events will run with $5,000/€5,000 buy-ins.

The PokerStars Festival will replace the smaller tournament series, at these stops the Main Event buy-ins will be $1,000 – $1,500. The two known stops in this series are currently set in New Jersey (November) and London.
