The Poker EM, informally known as the European Poker Championship was held for the 28th time, in the beautiful lakeside town of Velden in Austria. The Main Event title was claimed by Swiss poker pro Simon Boss who won €120,000.

This year’s Poker EM Velden Main Event kicked off with 189 entries, but with Day 2 late regs the field swelled up to a record 236 players – this meant that they got to fight for more money than in any of the other 27 Poker EM ME’s held before. The buy-in was €2,500 + €200 this year, so the prize pool ended up being an impressive €590,000.

On top of that, the cardplayers got to compete in the 3-day event in an environment that could certainly inspire any landscape painter – just take a look at it here.

The Main Event title went to Simon Boss – the Swiss player also won the event in 2015. We cannot report on a final hand, however, because the tournament ended with a heads-up deal. After the 3rd place finisher Löffler Kilian got eliminated by Boss the remaining two players, Boss and his fellow Swiss man who played under the "stage name" PiuPiuPiu immediately agreed on an ICM deal: the runner-up got his €87,000; while chipleader Simon Boss got €120,000 and the championship victory without having to play a single hand heads-up.
