High stakes Sit n’ Go crusher Bighusla has successfully completed a challenge in which he had to play 5,000 Spin & Gos in a month with an expected cEV of 8.5% or higher. He finished the challenge with a cEV of 8.8% after 5,054 games and won $11,000 before rakeback, even after running bad in the higher multiplier games.

PokerStars introduced their version of the so called lottery Sit n’ Gos, the Spin & Go tournaments in 2014 and it quickly became one of the most popular formats of online poker.

In "lottery" Sit n’ Gos the prize pool is randomly determined at the start of every game, players can compete for anywhere between 2x to x2000 of their buy-in. The tournaments are winner takes all, except on the three biggest multipliers (x100, x500, x2000), where all three players receive money.

The format is extremely popular amongst recreational players, because of the fast paced gameplay and the potentially huge prizes, while most regulars claimed that the variance is too high because of the randomized prize pools.

High stakes Sit n’ Go specialist Bighustla has stated that he believes the format is profitable for good players, who announced a challenge where he had to play at least 5.000 Spin & Gos at the $30 blind level with an expected chip value (cEV) of at least 8.5%. Players bet with 3:1 odds against Bighusla, but it’s unknown how much money the bet entailed.

Bighusla has successfully completed the challenge after reaching an 8.8% cEV in 5,054 Spin & Gos and won $11,000 without rakeback.

Many players were surprised that Bighusla could beat the rake (5%) in the lottery SNG and took it as a proof that the format can be played profitably.

Bighustla shared what he believes is the most important factor when playing the format: "…you have to concentrate equally in every multiplier game if you want to make profits. Winning the 2x multipliers is just as important as winning the 6x multipliers in the long run.

He also added that Game Theory Optimal (GTO) poker is not the most profitable stlye of play in the format, he stated that much better results can be achieved by exploiting the mistakes of his opponents.

Bighusla didn’t fare too well at the bigger multiplier games and didn’t hit many of them either, the biggest prize pool that he was playing for was a $750 game, but he won with such consistency and with such a great ROI that he still ended up a big winner.

The Sit n’ Go specialist normally plays the $100-$300 hyperturbo tables and will return to these after the challenge aswell. He decided to donate the money won from the side bets to charitable causes.
