Steve O’Dwyer claimed his second High Roller title of the year, this time he took down the A$250,000 buy-in LK Challenge at the Aussie Millions.

The final big event of the Aussie Millions kicked off on January 31 and Day 1 brought 15 registrations with 12 players advancing to Day 2.

Late registration was still open until the start of Day 2 and one player took advantage of this, which created a prize pool of A$3,920,000.

Phil Ivey, a three-time champion of the event was eliminated during Level 7 (3,000/6,000 – 1,000 ante), he check/raised all-in with 8-6 of spades on a 5-2-2 (two spades) flop, was called by Ben Tollerene’s A-5 and couldn’t improve.

After Brian Rast’s elimination during Level 8 (4,000/8,000 – 1,000 ante) players continued on one table:

Seat 1. Igor Kurganov – 450.000
Seat 2. Sam Greenwood – 175.000
Seat 3. Ben Tollerene – 426.000
Seat 4. Paul Newey – 288.000
Seat 5. Connor Drinan – 547.000
Seat 6. Byron Kaverman – 585.000
Seat 7. David Peters – 454.000
Seat 8. Steve O’Dwyer – 650.000
Seat 9. Fabian Quoss – 425.000

Greenwood finished in 9th and was soon followed by Tollerene, Kurganov and Newey. Byron Kaverman finished as the bubble boy, during Level 13 (12,000/24,000 – 3,000 ante) he shoved all-in for 596,000 from the small blind after Quoss opened to 50,000 from the cutoff.

Quoss called off for 482,000 with Aces and Kaverman’s A-T couldn’t improve, he lost his remaining 126,000 chips with Q-T against O’Dwyer’s K-4. The remaining four players decided to make a deal, leaving A$100,000 for the winner.

Connor Drinan – A$1.021.909
David Peters – A$889.236
Steve O’Dwyer – A$951.960
Fabian Quoss – A$956.896

O’Dwyer won a huge pot against Quoss and Drinan (JJvs66vsKQ) which left them shortstacked and they were eliminated not much later.

Steve O’Dwyer – 2.284.000
David Peters – 1.716.000

During Level 14 (15,000/30,000 – 4,000 ante) O’Dwyer raised with Q-T on the button and Peters defended with Q-7. Peters check/called 115,000 on the Q-6-3 (flushdraw) flop then check/called 230,000 when a Ten hit the turn.

The river was an offsuit 7, giving Peters an inferior two pair. He checked for a third time then snapcalled all-in when O’Dwyer shoved for 1.7 million.

Steve O’Dwyer won A$1,051,960 with his first place finish and this is his second High Roller win of the year, he took down the PCA $50,000 High Roller a couple of weeks ago.

With the Aussie Millions score his total live tournament winnings increased to $14,934,543 and he already banked $2,837,488 this year.
