Sylvain Loosli made an incredible comeback from just 4 big blinds to win the EPT Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller for more than €1.2 million! He defeated an extremely tough final table that included Dzmitry Urbanovich, Christoph Vogelsang, JC Alvarado and Steve O’Dwyer amongst others.

Nine players returned for the final day of the €50,000 Super High Roller event in Barcelona, the chip leader was Michael Egan but Dzmitry Urbanovich and Christoph Vogelsang also returned to big stacks.

Seat 1. Dzmitry Urbanovich – 4.325.000
Seat 2. Steve O’Dwyer – 2.450.000
Seat 3. Christoph Vogelsang – 4.765.000
Seat 4. JC Alvarado – 2.485.000
Seat 5. Byron Kaverman – 495.000
Seat 6. Sylvain Loosli – 1.200.000
Seat 7. Ivan Luca – 2.580.000
Seat 8. Paul Newey – 1.035.000
Seat 9. Michael Egan – 5.410.000

The first player to be eliminated was Byron Kaverman, during Level 20 (40,000/80,000-10,000 ante) he pushed with 420,000 chips and J-T. He was called by Egan in the small blind after which Urbanovich raised to 975,000. Egan folded, Urbanovich showed A-3 and Kaverman couldn’t improve on the K-3-9-6-A board and with that the official final table was set.

Paul Newey finished in 8th place, he lost a coinflip with Q-Q against JC Alvarado’s A-K, and was soon followed by Steve O’Dwyer, who also lost a coinflip, this time it was J-J against Ivan Luca’s A-K.

Luca couldn’t hold on to his new chips for long, he soon lost his stack with 6-6 against Urbanovich’s T-T.

Not much later Urbanovich eliminated Michael Egan, his A-J held up against Egan’s A-T in a preflop all-in.

Dzmitry Urbanovich – 11.800.000
Sylvain Loosli – 5.750.000
JC Alvarado – 3.400.000
Christoph Vogelsang – 3.300.000

During Level 25 (120,000/240,000-30,000 ante), JC Alvarado shoved from UTG with J-7 (and this point Urbanovich hasn’t returned from the dinner break yet) but was called by Vogelsang, who showed T-T.

Vogelsang doubled to 6.1 million while Alvarado was left with 3 million chips, which he pushed from the small blind not much later. Loosli called with A-6 in the big blind and Alvarado showed 9-4.

The board ran out 3-J-K-T-J ad Alvarado was eliminated in fourth place.

A while later Loosli opened to 525,000 from the button and Vogelsang defended his big blind. On a flop of J-A-T Vogelsang check/raised all-in over Loosli’s bet of 650,000 and the French player called.

Vogelsang showed Q-8 for a double gutshot while Loosli had A-8 for top pair. The turn 3 and river 8 couldn’t save Vogelsang, who won €551,485 for his third place finish.

Sylvain Loosli – 12.860.000
Dzmitry Urbanovich – 11.880.000

Loosli managed to increase his chiplead at the beginning of heads-up play but Urbanovich slowly climbed back to even. However, Loosli managed to pull ahead once again and by the final hand, Urbanovich only had 5.1 million (roughly 13 big blinds), which he shoved from the button with J-T.

Loosli snapcalled with 5-5 and Urbanovich could’nt improve on the K-4-2-5-K board.

Sylvain Loosli won €1,224,000, which is the second biggest score of his career after his $2,792,533 score for his 4th place finish in the 2013 WSOP Main Event.
