The Canadian high-roller regular took down the Triton Poker Series Main Event for $3.54 million.
The HK$2m NLH Main Event attracted 32 players, who generated a total of 48 entries for a prize pool of HK$90,204,000 ($11.5 million), rewarding the top six.
Several players with the likes of Michael Soyza or Ivan Leow fired two bullets, but none of them made the money. Wai Leong Chan also entered during the late registration period but was unable to run up his 25 big-blind stack.
Founder of the series, Richard Yong was the chip leader at one point, but he made a rather ambitious re-shove against Ike Haxton. While Yong had the best hand before the flop, holding pocket fives, the American managed to hit an ace on the flop, to take down the pot with ace-queen suited.
Unfortunately for them, the Germans also fell short of the money, as both – earlier chip leader – Dominik Nitsche and Christopher Vogelsang before the bubble burst. Justin Bonomo is probably a huge favorite in any tournament, he enters, but he couldn’t avoid becoming the bubble boy this time, after shoving with jack-ten suited against Adams, who held pocket queens. Bonomo busted and left the table empty-handed.
The final six was the USA vs Canada battle, as it saw four Americans (David Peters, Dan Smith, Isaac Haxton, and Bryn Kenney) fighting against (each other and) two Canadians Adams and fellow high-roller, Peter Jetten.
However, the field was even in a blink of an eye as it only took two hands for Haxton and Peters to bust. First, Ike lost his remaining stack against Kenney’s pocket kings, then Peters departed. He lost against Jetten, who also had the Cowboys. Ike received $803,000, while Peters added $1.04 millionto his rapidly-growing bankroll.
Bryn Kenney then busted Jetten once again holding pocket kings, and then took care of Dan Smith too. They walked away with $1.3 million and $1.7 million respectively.
The remaining two agreed on a deal, which saved both the biggest payday of their lives before Adams quickly closed out the event when he made a flush and called off Kenney’s bluff.
