The tournament is a tribute to Dave ”Devilfish” Ulliott, the British poker legend who passed away in April.
WPT Foundation and Dusk Till Dawn have announced that they are organizing a live tournament as a way to honor Dave Ulliott. The £1 million guaranteed tournament will take place at the World Poker Tour’s UK stop on October 31.
The buy-in is £5,000 and a £300 donation and 3% of the total prize pool will also go towards charitable causes, namely the Marie Curie Foundation (which helps patients suffering from terminal illnesses) and a fund set up for Ulliott’s daugther, Lucy.
Devilfish played his first tournament in 1993 and managed to stay in the game for 20 years afterwards, influencing multiple poker generations with his unique character.
Devilfish started off as a petty criminal in his youth but managed to turn his life around with poker and the support of his wife.
