The World Series of Poker has recently announced part of their schedule for the 2015 WSOP, which will run for 49 days from May 27 to July 14. The biggest attractions are the $10 million guaranteed for first Main Event and a tournament called ”The Colossus” which will have a $565 buy-in and a staggering guarantee of $5 million.
After the announcement of The Colossus, players on the forums started speculating that this could possibly be the biggest poker tournament ever, with 10,000-15,000 participants.
The Colossus is the lowest buy-in offered at the WSOP in 35 years, it will have to starting flights on both Friday (May 29) and Saturday (May 30) with a re-entry format (you can’t re-enter flights that you have already played however).
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said the following about the tournament: We believe the WSOP is uniquely able to deliver the big event with life-changing money for some and life-experience for all. We are going to proudly stage the kind of events which draw players from all around the world while also staying true to our heritage of contesting all variants of poker.”
The full WSOP schedule will be released in January and more than 60 events can be expected, below you can the dates for the most important tournaments:
May 29 – $565 Colossus (Two starting days, two flights each day)
June 6 – $1,500 Millionaire Maker (Two starting days)
June 12 – $1,500 Monster Stack (Two starting Days)
June 19 – $1,000 Seniors Championship
June 25 – $1,000 Ladies Championship
June 28 – $111,111 One Drop High Roller
June 30 – $1,111 Little One for One Drop
