When play concluded at the end of Day 6 at the WSOP Main Event, only 27 players were left standing (sitting), and leading them is tournament poker legend Martin Jacobson.
Jacobson has chipped up steadily throught the day, and he managed to build a stack of more than 22 million chips which is almost 200 big blinds on the current blind level.
Even though Jacobson has a nice stack he has to beware of the stiff competition, for example Dan Smith, who has been crushing live and online tournaments for years, high stakes cash game wizards like Scott Palmer and Brian Roberts, and a couple players who are no strangers to deep runs in the Main Event.
Bryan Devonshire finished 12th in 2012, Leif Force finished 11th in the 2006 WSOP, but most eyes are on Mark "Newhizzle" Newhouse, who made the final table and finished in 9th place in last year’s Main Event. He had more chips to start Day 6 than he had last year when entering the final table.
Play continues at 12 p.m. Vegas time, and the remaining players will battle it out until the final table is reached. Everyone is guaranteed at least $286,900.
