The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) will run between October 8 – 24 with 10 bracelet events at the Spielbank casino in Berlin. The highlight events are the €10,450 buy-in Main Event and the €25,600 High Roller tournaments.
The WSOPE has changed locations a lot throughout the years, it has previously been held in London, Cannes and Enghien-les-Bains.
In the beginning it was organized every year, but now it’s held once every two years with the WSOP Asia Pacific (WSOP APAC) being organized in the other year.
Ty Stewart, the director of the WSOP said the following about the event:
”Berlin is a logical choice as a host for the WSOPE. It can be easily accessed from the European countries and Spielbank Berlin has a lot of experience with prestigious live tournaments. We anticipate this WSOPE to be the best in the history of the series.”
There are going to be a total of 10 bracelet events, the first tournament is a €2,200 6-handed NLHE event, which will be followed by the first €550 buy-in tournament in the history of the WSOPE called Oktoberfest. In this event players can enter four Flights in an attempt to advance to Day 2.
The €550 PLO tournament on October 15 is also a first, this is the lowest buy-in PLO tournament ever on the schedule.
The two big buy-in events are the €10,450 Main Event (from October 8) and the €25,600 High Roller (October 21), organizers are expecting a big turnout for both tournaments.
The 2013 WSOPE Main Event was taken down by Adrian Mateos, who received €1,000,000 for the win, the list of former champions also includes legends like John Juanda, Annette Obrestad and Phil Hellmuth.
