The WSOP broadcast of the American Tv channel ESPN has been nominated for the Sport Emmy award for a second time. Last year, it fell short of the title with is main rival NBC, with its broadcast of the Olympic Games taking the honor. This year, however, it is said to be the ultimate favorite for the award.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences had the honor to announce the nominees of the Sport Emmy award, and the WSOP Final Table broadcast has also made it to the ’Best Live Event Broadcast’ category list. Other nominees include Basmaster Classic (ESPN2), Tour de France (CBS/Versus), Inside the Headsets – Speed, The 25th All Star Race (NASCAR Media Group), Inside the PGA Tour, The Deutsche Bank championship (PGA Tour Entertainment).

The first round of the WSOP final table showcased on the 7th November 2009, while the heads-up happened two days later, with Joe Cada and Darvin Moon returning for a facedown duel. Cada made history by becoming the youngest WSOP champion, securing the WSOP Main Event Bracelet and $8.5 million cash at the age of only 21 (not a bad day at the office ).

The WSOP is the most important and respected event in poker, and it did not lack spectator support with over 2.1 million viewers on ESPN. The two commentators were Lon McEachern and Norman Chad.

The WSOP Final Table broadcast stands a good chance of taking the nomination this year, but we are still eagerly awaiting the outcome.
