According to the 2+2 forum, a number of accounts have been accused of cheating in the Play2B rooms. The network has responded and suspended the accounts while it investigates the issue.
Play2B is a growing network that provides an easy way of setting up an online poker room and is currently serving over ten smaller skins. Recently, a number of posts appeared in a 2+2 thread that claim players had been cheated at some of the Play2B skins; while only small samples have been provided to support these claims and these hand histories were recorded purposely to demonstrate the alleged fraud, the network responded instantly and suspended the accounts that were apparently involved for the time of their investigation.
“Please be informed that we have followed the thread at 2+2 and we are taking all observations very seriously and it is currently being investigated. At the moment, the 5 suspicious accounts which are mentioned in the thread are currently suspended for investigation. We will get back to you as soon as this matter has been fully investigated,” Play2B posted in the forum.
Based on the hand histories, certain accounts have uncanny similarities in their statistics and show off incredible success rates. Based on the investigation carried out be user ‘DruidFluid’, involved players had won “626 of the 676 they raised pf, 90 of the 93 hands they bet turn, 56 out of 56 rivers that they bet, 117/122 hands that they 3b, 12/12 hands 4b.”
Since the UltimateBet superuser scandal, players have been extremely wary of similar cases and players’ investigations have so far tended to produce comforting results, clearing up messes caused by operators on several occasions. This might be necessary this time as well; Play2B skin Tempura has recently accepted players from the shut down PokerinVenice, similarly to the Gutshot Poker field. The latter was owned by Francesco Merighi’s Goalgaming Ltd, the founder and head of the Play2B network.
Since the operator is licensed by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority Malta (LGA), allowing such an issue to occur and escalate (when and if it does) can be another serious blow to the reputation of the regulatory body as well.
