Three German players made it to the very top of the European Poker Tour (EPT) London 2013 Super High Roller leaderboard. Martin Finger won the event, Tobias Reinkemeier ran 2nd and Christoph Vogelsang finished 3rd.
On Day 3 of this year’s EPT London £50,000 Super High Roller event, the eight-handed finale took place with WSOP and EPT title holder Martin Finger in a major chiplead. Other renowned pros like Patrik Antonius, Tobias Reinkemeier and November Nine member David Benefield accompanied him at the Final Table.
The seat draw was as follows:
Seat 1: Patrik Antonius – 745,000
Seat 2: Martin Finger – 4,740,000
Seat 3: Bill Perkins – 2,005,000
Seat 4: Tobias Reinkemeier – 845,000
Seat 5: Christoph Vogelsang – 1,215,000
Seat 6: David Benefield – 1,315,000
Seat 7: Timothy Adams – 1,135,000
Seat 8: Johannes Strassmann – 2,215,000
Antonius, who made it to a major tournament finale for the first time this year since his 3rd finish in the Aussie Millions Main Event, got eliminated first. On Level 18 (5,000/25,000/50,000), he was already down to 190,000 in chips and he pushed all-in from early position with A:s 5:s. Timothy Adams called from the BB and showed A:d 5:c. Despite Antonius’ bigger chance for a flush, the flop came T:d 5:d Q:d 2:h 8:d and Adams eliminated his opponent. In the moment of all-in, Adams had 2.17% chance for a four-card flush, Antonius had 7.16% for a three-card and chances for a split were 90.68%.
On Level 19 (10,000/30,000/60,000), Reinkemeier opened to 125,000 from UTG+1, online high stakes 6-max cash game regular and financial risk analyst Vogelsang 3-bet to 255,000, Benefield moved all-in, Reinkemeier re-raised all-in and Vogelsang, after tanking a bit, folded his A:c Q:h hand.
Benefield: J:c J:h
Reinkemeier: A:h K:c
Board: A:d 7:d 4:s 9:s 6:c
Benefield finished in 7th place.
He was followed by Adams, who moved all-in preflop with pocket sevens and got called by Bill Perkins, who held sixes. On the neutral board, another six arrived on the river. After that, a three-way all-in went down on Level 20 (10,000/40,000/80,000): Johannes Strassmann shoved his 650,000 preflop, Finger called from SB and he called Perkins’ re-raise all-in as well.
Strassman: J:h 9:c
Perkins: A:c J:d
Finger: Q:c Q:d
Board: A:d Q:h 6:c 7:d 6:s
Finger won with a full house, Strassman got eliminated in 5th and Perkins in 4th place. This left three Germans to compete for the title, as in the WCOOP Main Event.
Martin Finger – 8,005,000
Tobias Reinkemeier – 3,450,000
Christoph Vogelsang – 2,770,000
The heads-up got formulated on Level 21 (10,000/50,000/100,000), by the elimination of Vogelsang, who pushed all-in with 1,300,000 in chips and a Q-6 hand and got called by Finger, who held A-K and the board came neutral.
Finger started with a major edge and, even though he managed to decrease his dominance, Reinkemeier was unable to come back. In the last hand, he 5-bet all-in with pocket eights, Finger called with jacks and the board hit none of them.
Finger scooped in £821,000 for his victory, a personal career record.
The end results are as follows:
