Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom kicked off the month with about $1.5 million in profits, only to face a huge downswing and drop to only $309,000 in annual winnings.

Full Tilt Poker Pro Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom is by far the most active online high stakes player around with 315,573 hands played this year. This is almost three times the hands runner-up ‘davin77’ has played (127,634). Still, due to his incredible variance, Blom cannot be considered a definite winner, as he is just as able to climb to the top of the money list in a couple of sessions as he is to lose the majority of his profits in the same amount of time. Still, such a downswing Blom has just recently run into had long since eluded him.

Before taking a look at his monthly performance, let us take a look at his results before September this year:

January: $+2,422,752 (32,146 hands)
February: -$1,508,279 (28,181 hands)
March: +$2,008,997 (43,980 hands)
April: +$221,317 (48,651 hands)
May: +$17,614 (48,696 hands)
June: -$121,800 (22,594 hands)
July: +$369,766 (33,621 hands)
August: -$1,835,270 (25,121 hands)
Total: +$1,575,097 (282,988 hands)

Blom performed excellently in January and March, securing himself $1.5 million in profits by September, despite the heavy losses he has suffered along the way, especially in August. The FTP Pro kicked off the month with some extremely profitable sessions and it appeared he had made it back to the bright side of variance once again; crushing his opponents, he amassed $1,520,834 in profits in 6,220 hands.

However, he started to lose again, dropping to $465,930 by 7 September and going to $529,586 in losses by the 14th. On 21 September, ‘Isildur1’ had -$1,266,019 in 32,585 hands. The Swede, spending most of the year among the very best of the online high stakes money list, is now just a narrow winner this year, for a high stakes player, with $309,078 in profits in 315,573 hands.

“In some sick way, down swings are good because they force me to try even harder to outrun them. still sick tho :)” he tweeted.

To sum up, ‘Isildur1’ lost around $2.8 million between 5 and 21 September. The biggest question remains: will he be able to beat the downswing and rocket back to the top or will he get crushed in the online high stakes games?
