Ukranian pro player, Eugene Katchalov took down the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) $100,000 Super High Roller title. Katchalov managed to beat Daniel Negranu at the heads-up earning a handsome $1,500,000.

7 players sat down at the final table of this year’s Super High Roller event in the Atlantis Resort & Casino last Saturday:

Chair 1: Nick Schulman – 2.990.000
Chair 2: Demján Sándor – 379.000
Chair 3: Andrew Lichtenberger – 373.000
Chair 4: Bryn Kenney – 1.390.000
Chair 6: Daniel Negreanu – 2.166.000
Chair 7: Humberto Brenes – 757.000
Chair 8: Eugene Katchalov – 1.476.000

The first to leave the table was Andrew ‘LuckyChewy’ Lichtenberger, who went pre-flop all-in with his {#}A {#}T. Negreanu called with his pocket kings, winning with a set on a {#}J {#}T {#}4 {#}9 {#}K board.

The Hungarian player, Sandor Demjan (who is the richest man in Hungary, if you weren’t familiar with him) went all-in soon as well: he raised to 62,000, Katchalov 3bet to 185,000, Demján called. The flop came {#}8 {#}8 {#}2 . Katchalov continuation bet to 155,000, where Demján pushed all his 551,000 chips in. Katchalov called instantly, showing the bad news to the Hungarian:

Demján: {#}T {#}T
Katchalov: {#}J {#}J

Turn: {#}3
River: {#}9

Demján was eliminated at 6th place. He must have been upset, dropping out in the ITM bubble is always hard.

He was soon followed by Humberto Brenes, Nick Schulman and Bryn Kenney, whose elimination created the heads-up between Daniel Negreanu and Eugene Katchalov:

Eugene Katchalov – 4.860.000
Daniel Negreanu – 4.670.000

Katchalov won considerably more pots than the Negreanu, and had considerable chiplead throughout, however, Negreanu managed to double sometimes up showing better hands, which this time held until the river.

The final hand came about at the 20th blind level (10,000/40,000/80,000), where Negreanu went pre-flop all-in, but this time, he hasn’t had that much of luck:

Negreanu: {#}5 {#}5
Katchalov: {#}4 {#}4

Board: {#}A {#}T {#}8 {#}4 {#}2

Katchalov won the Super High Roller Trophy and the $1,500,000 with a set. Congrats!
