The eighth stop of the World Poker Tour Season 9 launches today, on 8th October, at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Lasting until 20th October, it provides events with buy-ins ranging from $500 + $40 to $5000 + $180. Most are NLHE but some are either Omaha Eight or Better or PLO. The Main Event will be a $10,000 + $300 NLHE and it lasts from 15th to 20th October.
The last WPT event, held at the Borgata, was won by Dwyte Pilgrim, beating a field of 1,042 players, a record in WPT history. In the showdown of the heads-up against Kia Mohajeri, Pilgrim flopped a King-high straight, making it easy for him to call Mohajeri’s all-in, who showed K:s 9:c for two pairs.
What Festa AL Lago brings, remains to be seen. I believe that even half of the excitement of the Borgata Open would make this another exceptional tourney.
